Screen2Act

Privacy Policy

Effective 28 October 2026 · applies to version 1.20.0 and later

In short

  • What you share with Screen2Act is analysed on your phone. It is never sent to us or to any cloud AI.
  • There is no Screen2Act account and no Screen2Act server. We cannot see your messages, files, calendar or contacts.
  • Google's on-phone components send Google basic diagnostics (such as phone model and app version), never your content.
  • You can erase everything the app has kept at any time.

Who we are

Screen2Act™ is an Android app made by an independent developer in the United Kingdom ("we"). To contact us about privacy or anything else, e-mail hello@screen2act.com.

What the app does with your content

You give Screen2Act content by sharing it from another app, choosing a file, pasting, typing or speaking. That can include messages, e-mails, screenshots, photos, PDFs, Word documents, calendar invites, contact cards and voice notes. The app reads it and suggests actions, such as a calendar entry, a reply, a call or directions.

  • Text in pictures and documents is read on your phone by Google ML Kit text recognition and barcode scanning.
  • Understanding and summarising is done on your phone by Gemini Nano, running in Android's AICore service. If Gemini Nano is not available, the app uses its own rules on the phone instead.
  • Speech is turned into text by your phone's on-device speech recognition.
  • Nothing is done until you approve it. Messages and e-mails are always drafts that open in your own apps for you to send.

What is stored, and where

Results, your inbox of saved actions and your settings (for example your name, sign-off and chosen calendar) are stored only in the app's private storage on your phone. If you turn on "Keep shared files for 7 days", copies of shared files are kept for 7 days and then deleted. Phone backups are switched off for this app, so this data is not copied to cloud backups.

Settings › Privacy & data › Erase everything deletes all of it straight away. Uninstalling the app also deletes it.

When the app goes online

  • Reading a web page. Only when you share a link and tap "Read page", the app downloads that page the way a browser would. Nothing of yours is sent with the request.
  • Google components. Google ML Kit and AICore may download or update their on-phone models, and ML Kit sends Google diagnostics and usage data. That data covers device details (make, model, Android version), app details (package name and version), installation identifiers, performance metrics and error codes. It does not include the content you share. See Google's ML Kit data disclosure and Google's Privacy Policy.

We do not use advertising, analytics or tracking services of our own, and we do not sell or share your data.

Feedback you choose to send

The app never sends anything to us by itself. Two features prepare an e-mail in your own e-mail app, which you can read, edit or discard before sending:

  • Send feedback (Settings › About) adds your app version, phone model, Android version and whether Gemini Nano is on. If you leave "Include these counts" on, it also adds two numbers kept only on your phone: how many things you've shared and how many actions you've tapped.
  • Send this example to the developer (under a result) adds what you shared with Screen2Act for that result (the text, or the text read from a picture or document) and what the app suggested. The app shows you exactly what will be included first, so you can remove anything private.

If you send one, we receive it as an ordinary e-mail at hello@screen2act.com. We use it only to answer you and to fix and improve Screen2Act, and we delete it when it is no longer needed for that. Ask us at any time to delete an e-mail you sent.

Permissions

Each permission is requested only when you use the feature that needs it, and you can refuse it and still use the rest of the app.

PermissionWhy
CalendarREAD / WRITE_CALENDARTo list your calendars so you can choose one, and to add the events you confirm, including repeating events and to-do reminders. Your existing appointments are never read.
MicrophoneRECORD_AUDIOOnly while you tap Speak, to dictate a note. Recognition happens on the phone and no recording is kept.
NotificationsPOST_NOTIFICATIONSTo tell you when an analysis is ready and to remind you of items you scheduled in the app.
Alarms and remindersSCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARMOptional. Lets reminders you set arrive on time instead of a few minutes late.
Run at start-upRECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETEDTo set your reminders again after the phone restarts.

The app does not ask for access to your contacts, camera, SMS, call log, location or photos. To pick a contact it uses Android's contact picker, which hands over only the one contact you choose. Photos are taken with your own camera app, and the clipboard is read only when you tap Paste.

Children

Screen2Act is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from anyone.

Your rights

Apart from any e-mail you choose to send us, we hold no personal data about you. You can ask us to see or delete those e-mails at hello@screen2act.com. Data on your phone is under your control, as described above. For data Google's components collect, see Google's Privacy Policy. If you are in the UK or EU, you can complain to your data protection authority; in the UK, that is the Information Commissioner's Office.
